Trekking in Every Season
Unlike many other Alpine Regions, Fontainemore is a year round destination. As the snowline descends, many of our favourite trails still remain open. Walks begin from the mule trail right outside your front door, connecting countless isolated communities below 1000 metres. To make things even easier, we've compiled a book featuring over 25 of our favourite routes.

The infamous Tor des Géants and Alta Via (330km transalpine circuit) pass just 3km from La Maisonette and can be reached by footpaths. The section above La Maisonette is renowned as being the wildest, partly as it goes the longest distance before touching a road. The Monte Mars Reserve/Coumarial, with its Via Ferrata route, is also just 9km away and connected by trails with La Maisonette. For those interested in "peak bagging" you can set out from your doorstep to the top of the 2700m Mt Crabun and descend the magical Vallone di San Grato. Various other 3000m + summits are possible for experienced mountaineers. The Holy Grail is a summit of the 4634m Monte Rosa at Punta Dufour. The climb begins just a 30 minute drive from your doorstep. Finally, for those interested in multi-day hikes, we can arrange bag-transportation service. We can also arrange drop-offs and collections to/from any given trail head.
